    Description

This is a community wellbeing walk through one of West Sussex's most quietly magical corners — a moderate, relatively flat route that takes you from the iconic ring at Chanctonbury, through the stunning Wiston estate, down the ancient and atmospheric Mouse Lane, and into a gentle loop around the Steyning Bowl before making your way back.

It's the kind of walk that slows you down in the best possible way.

Chanctonbury Ring has stood on the South Downs for thousands of years, surrounded by folklore, beech trees, and a stillness that's hard to explain but easy to feel. Walking through Wiston's rolling landscape and dropping down into Steyning — one of West Sussex's most beautiful historic towns — gives you the rare feeling of being both grounded and completely free.

This is a walk and talk in the heart of Sussex with no agenda and no expectations. Whether something comes up along the way, or nothing does — both are welcome. We're here to move, breathe, notice, and just be.

The Steyning Bowl stretch is particularly special — a natural hollow in the Downs that feels almost like the land is holding you. We'll close the loop there before heading back, giving everyone a chance to settle whatever the walk has stirred.

This is a gentle, grounding experience suitable for moderate ability walkers. You don't need to be fit, fast, or fixed. You just need to show up.

Distance: Approx. 5–6 miles return Difficulty: Moderate — relatively flat, some uneven terrain What to bring: Sturdy footwear, a layer, water, and an open mind

Come walk the old paths with us. Nature will do the rest.
